Hotel Name: Surf Rider Malibu
Location: Malibu CA, USA
Price we paid: Approx $600 (Peak season during end of year)
Surf Rider Malibu’s hotel lobby is really something else. It feels natural and organic, and really calls towards reconnecting to the world around you on a personal level. The hotel isn’t huge but it’s a series of amazing boutique hotels that I visited during my stay in America. It seemingly looks like a recently renovated old-school motel from the outside but it really is a modern and eco-friendly architectural masterpiece. It reminds me of a cross between hotels in Byron and a cute little café in Bali called the Organic Café.
Our check-in process was too easy as the receptionists were simply angels. Although there is no valet parking available, you could easily pull up next to your room, which made up in terms of convenience. The hotel’s bar is superbly stunning. We were escorted there by the staff and gawked at its beauty. It’s what you see on everyone’s Instagrams when you think of Malibu. It was a postcard view overlooking the whole strip of the Malibu beach. It was simply to die for. There’s definitely something about dining during a gorgeous golden hour sunset, paired with delicious food, and sublime cocktails. Room service was also completely divine.
The room was quite small but had beautiful earthy décor that matched the hotel aesthetic as well as a private balcony. There was also a quaint but adorable bathroom.
Comfort & Privacy
It definitely felt like a home away from home. I loved it.
The hotel provided super unique mini bar snacks far superior from the usual hotel snacks, it had a personal touch to it and does not stock the typical commercial brands, which added to its homey feel.
Superb room service food! Definitely a must order.
Honestly, the lack of a view is made up for by the unique room designs and you could get all the beauty of a view from the hotel bar.

The hotel was right beside the Malibu beach, and if you go up to the rooftop bar, you get a spectacular view of the sunset.
A cozy inn style place to stay. Looked like an upscaled, converted classic motel inn without sacrificing the initial feel of it. So organic chic, so earthy LA. Even if you don’t have the opportunity to stay here, the rooftop bar is a must see in Malibu, regardless.
